To Whom It May Concern:
I am a freelance writer for The Oregonian's South Bureau in Oregon
City,
Oregon.
I cover the towns of Oregon City, Milwaukie, Canby, Molalla, Mulino,
Happy
Valley, Clackamas, Estacada and Gladstone. I was wondering if there
are many
letter boxes in that area and if I could contact any families who
enjoy letter
boxing.
Please email me at KThom7@a... or write: Kristine Thomas, P.O. Box

Thank you for your help,

I'm also a freelance writer (in Oregon City) and, after sending an e-mail on
the subject to this group, I queried the Oregonian on April 16, 2003 about
writing an article about local letterboxing. The newspaper didn't respond--and I
didn't pursue it because of negative responses to a subsequent list-serve
e-mail about publizing letterboxing.
So I'm not sure where that leaves either me or the freelancer whose request
has reached this list. (Except that if group consensus is that an article is
okay--I'd say I have first dibs! :o)

P.S. I've e-mailed the reporter and am now in contact with her.

There is an article in the Portland Parent magazine on letterboxing. I had
just picked it up to see if I could find a coupon to a local pizza place,
imagine my surprise to find an article on letterboxing in it! (No coupons though! <
g>) It's in the July issue and you can find them outside stores next to the
newspaper boxes, I think. That's where I found this one anyway. The website
on it is: www.PortlandFamilies.net
